Flashmob

Envision that you are in a street shopping and suddenly music starts playing and folks who so far seemed to be casuals shoppers suddenly gather and start dancing in perfect synchronized moves - just like a scene from a bollywood movie. Well that is exactly what happened in Newcastle, UK recently.

In the video below sent by Darren from Convergys, Newcastle shows him and others who took part in flashmob as part of a local cause raising awareness for a fitter Britain.

Now imagine doing something similar at Charminar or in metro station in Delhi - that will be rollicking! Any takers?

Baking a few changes

Baking a few changes... yess, it's in the oven :) I am cleaning up a little in here first - many snippets and draft posts... I'm also combining the two blogs I have. I figure it will be a lot easier if I do so and will get better output from the time I spend in maintaining the two separate logs. So keep checking-in or if not done so already - subscribe for the alerts.

Alerts remind me - I figured that many of my generation ;-) folks are still surfing the ancient way - browse, email and IM. But it has become much more easier now (and thank whoever for it). You have feeds and readers which will bring the web pages right to your inbox - just like email comes to you. Come to think of it - you do not go to several web sites to read your email from different people - do you? So, why keep clicking across the regular web pages that you read - ask them to come in to your inbox.

Who said papa can work

She's got her pig tails on - for the first time. She would not let me work no matter what. Her Suzy auntee is also on vacation today. So here I am on your workstation!

Chopper in my backyard

Today we woke up to the loud noise of chopper and as I stepped out we found a helicopter is landing in my backyard.

I scratched my head and tried to remember who in my relations own one but nothing came to mind. It turned out that a movie was to be shot here and the scene involved a chopper! Guys I live in Hi-tech city in Hyderabad!!

new camera papa?

I have upgraded to new BlackBerry Curve and I am so glad that I did!! (Actually Amrita made me upgrade) It has a snazzy big screen and shiny metal looks. With 2 mega pixel camera, media player and support for microSD cards it can easily overwhelm any serious business user looking for value for his money down to last paisa (Amrita is nodding her head - she is prompting me to write 'like me')

To be honest I had adapted well to old 7290 which would fill my hands well and had the click wheel on the side. The nifty little white track ball on the new Curve is hard to reach as my thumb goes to the side but it is one habit I am sure I will give up soon ;-)

With the new Curve I also was pleased to see the new Yahoo! Go service. It has sharp user interface with a brand new concept. Its interface is the most creative I have seen on anything recently - simply brilliant!

I had moved to Gmail long ago but looks like Yahoo!Go will make me switch back. The biggest pull is its capability to sync my address book on Curve with my yahoo address book - now that is neat. This alone is reason enough. But it has more! Flickr, address book, email and tonnes of other stuff - all on my phone.

I am forced to wonder how far behind google must be? Its mobile apps suddenly seem like a generation old. (I did see a news item / rumor of Google phone).

Should Google stick to its PoT (plain old text) look any longer? Does it have any USP left? I mean look at Yahoo mail. They have a nifty UI with a crisp keyboard based navigation and shortcuts. Now that is what I call getting back at the competition - take what you have and make it better. Sadly, Microsoft's hotmail has not been able to keep up - at least the last I checked they did not have anything to make me switch from GMail like Yahoo did.

Push-Button Publishing (contd.)

Hmmm didn't go as smooth as expected. Post appeared (though not immediately) but it messed up the page format. I think the email should not have been in the HTML format. I went in edit mode after the post appeared on the page and removed the unnecessary HTML tags which fixed it.

But, the idea of posting via email is too tempting so I am going to try couple more times.

This time I am trying the text mode. Let us see if it works. Even the picture above is sent via email. The picture is that of my family who are missing me terribly as I travel.

Push-Button Publishing

It was easy!! The first post yesterday night was really really easy. Think of countless hours I spent on creating my own site [and then loose it all during the server update by hosting company :( ] this was a snap - a click.

I have a feeling that Email Publishing is going to be even better than Push-Button Publishing. It is guaranteed to get published – absolutely not going to be rejected :) – and it is fast. When I see all the settings, options etc. while creating the posts I get lost. Instead of working on the post I start to tweak the look and feel which, I feel, makes me less productive. And who wants to be less productive? :) If this works I will be posting using my all time favorite Outlook. I guess I can log back to Blog only to upload pictures.

BTW I just heard our friend Bandi’s car is not starting. Probably he left the lights on and now the battery is dead. :) aaaarrghh

I am starting to get so many ideas so here it is – clicking the Send button…
