Chopper in my backyard

Today we woke up to the loud noise of chopper and as I stepped out we found a helicopter is landing in my backyard.

I scratched my head and tried to remember who in my relations own one but nothing came to mind. It turned out that a movie was to be shot here and the scene involved a chopper! Guys I live in Hi-tech city in Hyderabad!!

new camera papa?

I have upgraded to new BlackBerry Curve and I am so glad that I did!! (Actually Amrita made me upgrade) It has a snazzy big screen and shiny metal looks. With 2 mega pixel camera, media player and support for microSD cards it can easily overwhelm any serious business user looking for value for his money down to last paisa (Amrita is nodding her head - she is prompting me to write 'like me')

To be honest I had adapted well to old 7290 which would fill my hands well and had the click wheel on the side. The nifty little white track ball on the new Curve is hard to reach as my thumb goes to the side but it is one habit I am sure I will give up soon ;-)

With the new Curve I also was pleased to see the new Yahoo! Go service. It has sharp user interface with a brand new concept. Its interface is the most creative I have seen on anything recently - simply brilliant!

I had moved to Gmail long ago but looks like Yahoo!Go will make me switch back. The biggest pull is its capability to sync my address book on Curve with my yahoo address book - now that is neat. This alone is reason enough. But it has more! Flickr, address book, email and tonnes of other stuff - all on my phone.

I am forced to wonder how far behind google must be? Its mobile apps suddenly seem like a generation old. (I did see a news item / rumor of Google phone).

Should Google stick to its PoT (plain old text) look any longer? Does it have any USP left? I mean look at Yahoo mail. They have a nifty UI with a crisp keyboard based navigation and shortcuts. Now that is what I call getting back at the competition - take what you have and make it better. Sadly, Microsoft's hotmail has not been able to keep up - at least the last I checked they did not have anything to make me switch from GMail like Yahoo did.
